QuaranGreen innovator, Matthew Tengtrakool and his lettuce plants purchased with grant money from the PeaceFirst organization.

The Covid-19 pandemic has not stopped Burlington’s youth from improving their community. The Burlington Science Center has recently been made aware of the efforts of BHS Junior, Matthew Tengtrakool and his healthy eating habits campaign, “QuaranGreen.” The QuaranGreen project is focused on distributing free lettuce plants to members of the Burlington community to grow at home and promote healthy eating habits and reduce stress while social distancing at home. Matthew’s initiative was recently awarded a grant from the PeaceFirst organization to distribute 150+ plants to our community. Dozens of plants have already been safely distributed following strict social distancing guidelines and to great feedback from its benefactors.

Burlington residents can sign up to get their own plant through this link to a google form. Also, they can keep up with Matt’s updates to the QuaranGreen social medias platforms on Facebook and Twitter linked here.

The Burlington Science Center is happy to promote and encourage Burlington students like Matthew to pursue projects that they are passionate about and promote a happier, healthier community and planet. If you are a Burlington student or resident and have an initiative you’d like to have shared by the Science Center please drop us an email or private message through our own social media outlets.

Update: 4/14/2020: Matt checked in with Assistant Superintendent Patrick Larkin and shared some about his initiative with the Burlington community on his check-in vodcast.
